Spark of Hope #10 – The Kid Tucked Inside

Spark of Hope #10 31 years ago, I left home to join the military. Returning home this month brought a flurry of memories. Some were as clear as yesterday, while others were vague, almost as though I’d imagined them. Without a doubt, every trip home brings out the kid in me and I get a bit sad when it’s time for goodbye. When I arrived at the airport, my eyes gravitated to the troops in uniform—a familiar site for which I was grateful. Later when I reached my connection, I was again drawn to the military as I sat chatting with an Army spouse. Finally, on-board the plane home I sat next to an Airman. As we talked, I thanked him for choosing to serve. Then to my surprise, I spent the remainder of the flight chatting with a fellow Air Force-retired spouse. I left behind my childhood family, and I gained a military family along my path—just like 31 years ago. What a striking affirmation that Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!

A kid tucked inside the military family…that’s me!

Hope is like a spark; if the conditions are right, it can spread like wildfire. Hope feeds the soul, ignites passion, and inspires others. A world without it is like a world without possibility. Tucked inside each of us is a child-like spark that says: never forget to dream, play and imagine. HOPE is the extraordinary spark that says Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!

  1. Thamk you for your spark of hope. I also know the sadness when you go home and then leave. It is still never easy for me after 39 years. God does bless us and gives us new family along the way. Many doors have been opened when I left home that I would have not known. There is also a spark of hope added to my life because He has shown me that wherever He is I can call home. Thank you and blessings to you this day.
