Spark of Hope #3 – Gratitude Moments

Spark of Hope #3 This summer, I gave a presentation for the Integrated Delivery System of helping agencies at Eglin Air Force Base. Afterward, I made a quick stop at the base commissary. It’s customary there for baggers to carry groceries to your car—they work for tips only. Even though my bags were few, I opted for the carry-out.

In the 3-minute walk to my car, the bagger shared that she’s an active duty member and had recently returned from Afghanistan. I asked if she had children. She replied, “Yes, an 8-year old daughter. I found this Little Patriot Book that she loves—it helped so much while I was gone.” I felt my heart melt inside my chest as I said, “Is that book When Your Mom Goes to War?” She confirmed it & I introduced myself as the author of that little book that helped her child. She asked for a thank you hug. I was honored to oblige and thank her—for her family’s sacrifices and for the gift of my freedom. That encounter remains a spark in my heart that Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!

Beautiful Yellow-Ribbon Hope

Hope is like a spark; if the conditions are right, it can spread like wildfire. Hope feeds the soul, ignites passion, and inspires others. A world without it is like a world without possibility. Tucked inside each of us is a child-like spark that says: never forget to dream, play and imagine. HOPE is the extraordinary spark that says Huge Outcomes are Possible Everyday!
